Kent County Championships 2019

The Women’s Artistic squad rounded off a very successful competition year at the Kent Champions over the weekend of 16th & 17th November 2019. Held between Deal and The Meapa, all the squad gymnasts competed for county titles against 175 gymnasts from clubs all across Kent.

The weekend began with our Level 6 gymnasts Sofija, Kalee, Isla & Ella who displayed some beautiful routines to see Sofija take the title with Isla 2nd and Ella 3rd. Unfortunately a few uncharacteristic mistakes on beam kept Kaylee off the podium. Anabelle competed next in modified 5 and, even having a few mistakes on beam she managed to finish 3rd.

Sunday started very well with our level 5 gymnasts, Sienna, Grace, Eloise, Darcy, Sophie and Eva competing for the In age (8 years) and out of age titles. Sienna had a phenomenal competition showcasing new skills on bars and floor and easily took the 8 years title and trophy with Grace finishing 2nd and Sophie 5th. Eva performed confident and solid routines on all apparatus to win the 9 years category and take the trophy.

Our Level 4 gymnasts, Dakota, Skye, Katie, Megan, Summer & Aly competed next. In 2 straight weekends of competition, Dakota narrowly missed out on the 9 years title finishing 2nd, but achieved the highest bar score to win the Bar trophy. In the 10 year category, Summer returning from injury put in a solid performance to take the gold medal with Megan close behind in 2nd. Competing in the 10 year age group, Skye showed consistency to take the title and overall trophy with the highest AA score of the weekend, Katie finished 2nd with Aly 3rd as Meapa held the podium placings.

Izzy and Bailey competed in level 3 with Izzy taking the 10 year title and trophy and Bailey taking the 11 year title and the 11+ trophy.

Sienna and Erin continued The Meapa’s success in the modified 3 category with Sienna finishing her competition season off with a 1st place in the 11 year category and Erin having a few uncharacteristic mistakes on floor to finish 3rd in the 12+ age group.

The final round of the competition was a busy round for The Meapa with gymnasts competing in Level 2, Modified 2, Challenge Espoir and junior, modified challenge and FIG categories. Amy competed well in level 2 to take the 12+ title and trophy with Sophia competing a new bar routine to finish 3rd. Jess, Jemma, Freya and Holly all competed in modified 2 with Jess taking the 12/13 year title, in the 14+ category, Jemma finished 5th with Freya 3rd and Holly winning the 14+ title and trophy as well as the judges artistry award for beam.
